How to get legal services for your wedding in Florida
NEW YORK — As the legal world prepares for the inauguration of Donald Trump, the next step for legal service providers is the need to find a way to serve the president.
For the legal seafood restaurant that is planning to open in downtown Tampa this month, the decision to hire lawyers has not been easy.
In October, owner Joe B. Williams had to fight a federal lawsuit that said his legal services would be denied because of Trump’s immigration ban.
Williams has now hired attorneys from the firm of Perkins Coie to defend his company against the lawsuit, which seeks class action status on behalf of more than 3,000 Trump-related businesses, restaurants and agencies.
“We’re looking for a legal way to continue providing legal services to the president, and that’s what this legal team has been working on for the last two months,” said B.J. Rocha, senior attorney with the firm.
“The lawyers have been working for the past three months on a legal strategy to protect the president,” said Rocho, who previously represented former Florida governor Jeb Bush.
The Trump-linked restaurant, which has been open for six months, will offer legal services, including legal assistance, and legal information.
The Tampa Bay Times reports the restaurant will have a staff of eight attorneys, including two in the legal team.
For a legal service provider, that’s a significant undertaking, but for the president’s inauguration, that task can be even more challenging, according to Rochas experience in the field.
“I think the challenge is going to be much greater than the Trump campaign,” he said.
“This is a huge and significant undertaking.
And it’s going to take some time.
And if you look at the last six months of this administration, they have not done anything.
This is going be a real challenge.”
As of early Tuesday, the website for the legal services corporation listed in Florida’s attorney-client privilege had posted a sign that said: “Trump & Co. do not represent anyone in the Florida Attorney General’s Office or any other office of the state.”
The sign was removed by late Tuesday afternoon.
As for the future of the restaurant, the company has asked the attorney general’s office to review the lawsuit.
“It’s a really big issue,” said Joe Williams, the restaurant’s owner.
“The question is whether the Attorney General is going do what they need to do, or is she going to allow a lawsuit to go forward.
I think that’s going be the ultimate decision.
And that’s why I’ve asked for help.”
The Trump campaign did not respond to a request for comment on the legality of the legal service.
